I recently discovered a fabulous new restaurant in Adelaide, and I just had to share my experience with all of you! Fasta Pasta on South Terrace is an absolute gem and serves up some of the most delicious Italian dishes I've ever tasted.
Indulge in the Menu
Let's talk about the menu first. The prices are incredibly reasonable, but don't let that fool you into thinking the food isn't amazing. From classic spaghetti carbonara to a creative mushroom risotto, everything I tried was simply delicious.
Starters that Delight
For starters, I highly recommend trying the bruschetta. It's loaded with fresh tomatoes, garlic, and basil, all drizzled in olive oil, and topped with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
Main Course that Satisfies
As for entrees, the options are endless. One of my favorites was the seafood linguine with juicy prawns, mussels, and a creamy pesto sauce. Another standout was the gnocchi with rich gorgonzola cream sauce and crispy pancetta.
Recipe to Try at Home
If you're more of a home-cook and would love to try your hand at Italian cuisine, I have an easy and delicious recipe for you to try - Spaghetti Carbonara! Here's what you'll need:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound spaghetti
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions:
- Cook spaghetti according to package directions.
- Meanwhile, in a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towel.
- In a small bowl, whisk together parmesan cheese and eggs until combined.
- In the same skillet you cooked the bacon, add minced garlic and olive oil. Cook for a minute or two until garlic is fragrant.
- When spaghetti is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water and then drain spaghetti. Add spaghetti to skillet with garlic and oil, and toss until coated.
- Pour egg mixture over spaghetti and toss quickly to combine. The heat from the spaghetti will cook the egg and create a creamy sauce. If mixture looks too dry, add in reserved pasta water.
- Add in cooked bacon and serve hot.
